Today we turn the spotlight on a completely unique and stunning performance artist and magical show-woman. She puts the glamour into the Glamourists, a headline act in her own right, and huge part of the West End Magic shows – Vicky Butterfly.
Vicky fuses visual art and entertainment, drawing on the many disciplines she’s trained in – ballet, performance art, opera, figure skating and her BA in Performance Design at Central St Martin’s. She creates every aspect of her theatrical, magical performances, that always contain elements of surprise and metamorphosis. Combining the old with the new, she blends technological innovation with heritage textile arts.
Over a 22 year career her mesmerising, visual style has been in demand worldwide, performing in shows globally, from the V&A to the Venice Carnival, and the legendary circus cabaret La Clique.
Her talent extends beyond performing; she’s also the creator and costume designer for the acclaimed Black Cat Cabaret. Her in depth historical knowledge also led her to be featured as an expert in documentaries for the BBC and appearances on The Paul O’Grady Show and The Crown.
Vicky has featured in magazines such as Marie Claire Italy and WIRED and collaborated with countless musical artists and bands, such as Fleetwood Mac, Royksopp, The Verve, Kings of Leon, The Fratellis, Queens of the Stone Age, The Cutting Crew and Paul Weller. She was also awarded a trophy at Las Vegas’ Burlesque Hall of Fame for ‘Most Dazzling Dancer’.
Vicky has played a key role in the West End Magic shows, both on and off the stage. She plays multiple roles and brings elements of fairy tale illusionary to the show. Her acts include coming to life from a drawn picture, vanishing in mid-air, and her captivating solo lights performance, while injecting some serious West End glamour to the stage throughout.
