Magic at the Barn had its first show in 2004 at the Red Brick Barn in my hometown of Rochford, Essex, to raise money for the tsunami appeal.
Every year a weekend of summer, Halloween and Christmas shows has taken place ever since, with the exception of last year.
This weekend, I’m excited that our family friendly summer shows are returning with an eclectic mix of magic, mirth, mystery and mayhem: featuring a great blend of magic, comedy and variety acts.
I absolutely love putting on these shows, as I get to present some of my very favourite magic and variety acts to the local community, plus I get the opportunity to try out some new magic routines, making each show completely different and fresh from the last.
The barn is a Grade II listed building dating back to the 17th century and has the perfect atmosphere for a magic show: it’s enchanting, magical, and has the added advantage of retaining a cool temperature in these hot months… perfect for when you’re wearing a dark suit on the stage.
The show itself will feature the magic of some bloke called Oliver Tabor, manic and mayhem from JeZo, elegant illusions from the Glamourists, comedy and mind reading from Wayne Trice.
It’s always great fun and I can’t wait to show what we what have planned for this year.
And…the big bonus for us is the 5 min drive back home!
